Rogue Ambassadors

What is the RCC Rogue Ambassadors Program?
Rogue Ambassadors is a merit scholarship program designed to reward high school students who have worked hard, who have earned the respect of their instructors, and have the grades to prove it. It assists those who qualify by paying half of tuition (up to nine credits) in year one and full tuition in year two at Rogue Community College.

Am I Eligible?

    • Earn a cumulative, un-weighted GPA of 3.5 or better as of the first quarter/semester of your senior year in high school
    • Be on track to earn a regular high school diploma
    • Enroll full-time (12-18 credits) at RCC in the summer or fall immediately following your high school graduation
    • Enroll in a service-learning class (HD180)

How Do I Apply?

Submit the following:


Rogue Ambassadors application will be available from February 1 to March 31.

  • Unofficial high school transcript — Must include first semester/quarter grades from your final year in high school and must submit final transcript upon graduating from high school. Submit transcripts to:

  • Statement of personal/professional goals (500 words max.)

 

  • Official test results from the RCC placement test (COMPASS) — You must take the COMPASS test prior to submitting the Rogue Ambassadors application.

NOTE: Incomplete applications will be disqualified. If you have taken 2+2 Early College Credit classes or other college credit, include your college transcript.

Students who accept Rogue Ambassadors standing are not eligible for other RCC Foundation awards and scholarships.

Q: Who qualifies for the Rogue Ambassadors program?
A: Applicants must:
Be on track to graduate with a regular diploma from one of the high schools listed previously listed.
Have earned a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.5 or better (as of first semester/quarter grades of final year in high school) and graduate with a 3.5 or better.
Enroll at Rogue Community College in summer or fall term immediately following high school graduation or diploma completion
Enroll full-time with a minimum of 12 credits (18 credit maximum per term)
Successfuly complete 1-credit HD180 class in year one of the program.


Q: I am a home-schooled student. Am I eligible?
A: At this time, home-schooled students are not eligible to participate in the Rogue Ambassadors program.


Q: Am I eligible if I graduate early from a designated high schools?
A: Yes, as long as your cumulative, unweighted GPA is 3.5 or better as of your first semester/quarter of your final year in high school. Seniors graduating a semester early and juniors graduating a year early are all eligible.


Q: I am a fifth-year high school student. Am I eligible?
A: Yes, as long as your cumulative, unweighted GPA is 3.5 or better.


Q: I am earning a modified high school diploma. Am I eligible?
A: No. Students must receive a regular high school diploma from a designated high school.


Q: What if my GPA at my high school is 3.4?
A: A minimum 3.5 GPA is required to qualify for the scholarship. No exceptions will be granted and no appeals can be made for decisions regarding ineligibility.


Q: If my weighted GPA is 3.5 or better, am I eligible?
A: No. Your GPA must be at least 3.5, unweighted.


Q: May I enroll in summer term at RCC immediately following my high school graduation?
A: As a Rogue Ambassador, you may start classes in the summer term immediately following your high school graduation.


Q: May I take classes at any RCC campus?
A: Yes. You may attend classes at any of RCC’s three campuses.


Q: What if I enroll as a full-time student with 12 credits but I drop some classes?
A: You must earn a total of 36 credits by the end of spring term. If 12 credits are not completed during a term, the remaining credits must be made up before the end of spring term.


Q: I understand that I must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or better while enrolled at Rogue Community College. When are GPAs checked for eligibility? A: Grades are checked at the end of spring term to verify that a 3.5 GPA has been earned to determine eligibility for the following year.


Q: Do I have to be eligible for federal financial aid in order to qualify for the Rogue Ambassadors program?
A: No. You do not have to qualify for federal financial aid to be considered for the Rogue Ambassadors program.
