Letter from the President
Thank you! These are the two most important words we can say – thank you. The past year was one filled with uncertainty and overwhelming needs from our students, our community, and Rogue Community College. Your generosity and commitment to our mission helped us fulfill many of those needs.
With your investments during a most difficult year, we were able to meet and exceed many of our goals. First, we brought you the scholarship challenge from the John F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation. Not only did we meet the challenge, together we exceeded it by more than double, providing for extremely important scholarships as student needs skyrocketed.
Given the reality of the financial markets and that approximately 45 percent of our scholarships are endowment based, we also set a goal to maintain scholarship awards that were no less than 20 percent below the year prior. We far surpassed that goal and awarded more than $730,000 in scholarships last year, 93 percent of the prior year’s awards. These investments in our students are integral to the health and wellbeing of our community as we respond to double-digit enrollment growth.
This year we were again able to invest in innovative projects at RCC. These projects ranged from the Illinois Valley Business Entrepreneurial Center to new flux cored arc welding technology to sheet music for RCC performing groups. These project grant requests show the caring and good work of our faculty and staff as they strive to do their best for all the students of Rogue Community College.
Without your investments in our students and college we could not have done any of this good work– so again, thank you.
Best Regards,
Suzanne Stewart
